DIY Tutorial: Origami Paper Box

15 May

In the following tutorial you will learn how to make a cute and useful origami box by using a square piece of paper. You can use any paper you may have, but the bigger you go the sturdier your paper should be or your box will not be able to hold anything heavy. For this tutorial I am using origami paper I got from Hong Kong.

1- Begin by getting a square piece of paper of any size, as long as it is square.

2- Fold your paper diagonally (so it looks like a triangle)

3- Unfold and repeat on the other side so you get an X mark like this:

4- Fold one of the corners up to the middle of your X mark (do this for all 4 corners)

5-Your paper should now look like this:

6- Now, fold one side in half like this:

7-Do the same for the other side, then unfold and do it for the remaining 2 sides as well so you will have something like this:

8- Now, unfold one of the triangles

9- Pinch and fold both sides like this:

10-Do this for both sides and bring the flap down

11- Do this for the other side as well and you are finished!

This box can be made in any size, once you fold up to step 7, the square in the center is going to be the bottom of your box, so you can see if thats the size you want.
